Day twenty.

Happy Birthday to ME!  One of the reasons why December is my favorite month :) Here's to the last year in  my twenties!

The highlight of our day was the buckets of rain that fell from the sky and the delivery truck getting stuck in the neighbors yard and having to have a tow truck come and rescue him.  Yep, that's it.  Good stuff, right?  It's OK, don't be jealous.  I know it's hard though.

Jakie came to me today and said, "You know what Mommy?  I would bake you a cake, but then we would have the call it the disaster cake!" Oh sweet boy, it's the thought that counts.  So, instead, we skipped the cake and made cupcakes.  Which is way more dangerous for me because one is never enough.  He frosted them himself and topped mine with my *current* favorite candy :) the last of my favorite candy!  Boo.

Jason shoved a cupcake in my face.  Not cool Babe.  Even though it made me laugh really hard, you had better sleep with one eye open :) I may or may not have shoved one in Jakie's face.  Alright, alright, I did!  I think he still has frosting in his nose!  Good times :)

Jared was the winner this morning and found Julio first.  He made sure to rub that one in Jakie's face for a minute or two.

Tonight both boys read their Christmas wish lists to Julio.  This was list number 345,876 it seems like.  This one, however, is THE FINAL LIST.  Until they remember something else tomorrow :)

See the photo of Jason and I?  That was taken at Jason's company Christmas party before we had kids.  Wow, that. seems. forEVER. ago.  Life is so much sweeter now :)

Day nineteen.

Yesterday:

-I had a super-healthy breakfast.  Not :) It was tasty though.  Jason got a box of See's candy from a co-worker on Friday.  She really got it for me.  She just didn't know it.  Thanks Yolanda :)

-Jason and I had some time out last night at one of his friends house for dinner with a few co-workers.  I missed the boys.  I talked a bit about that here.

Today:

-Jakie noticed there was something different about our calendar today.  "Whoa, whoa, whoa, there are some changes on that calendar that I need to see!"  That boy notices everything.  Nothing gets passed him.

-The weather was fantastic today!  So glad I didn't have to go out in it though.  Perfect staying-at-home kind of weather.

-We stayed in our jammies all day.  That was nice.  A much needed day of absolutely nothing.

-Jared skipped his nap today.  I took one for him instead :)

-Jakie keeps reminding me what Christmas is all about.  I love that.  Jakie and Jared had a conversation about it today.  Went something like this:

Jakie: Why do we celebrate Christmas Jared?

Jared: for uth and Thantha and trethenth!  ...In Jared language that would be, for us and Santa and presents.

Jakie: Noooooooooo.  There's a reason for Christmas.

Jared: For uth Cake!

Jakie: No, it's Jesus' birthday!

Jared: Jethuth bir-day?  Ohhhhhh.  Happy bir-day to hiiiiim???

Jakie: Yes!  So, why do we celebrate Christmas?

Jared: Jethuth.  (five seconds later)....And Thantha.

Haha!  No way was Jared going to forget about Santa.  Not a chance.

These darn things are down right heavenly!  Yummy.

-Michael has been at his Mama's house since Thursday.  I might be looking forward to having him come home on the 23rd.  I might miss him.  Just a little :)

-We had Hot Cocoa tonight...minus the marshmallows for Jared.  He no likey.  And, we watched The Flight Before Christmas.

-The best part about tomorrow?  It's Monday and there's no school!  I love vacation.  Sorry Babe, you're almost done though! :) xoxo

Day fourteen.

Is it really already December 14th?  For real?!  December needs to slow. his. roll.  Going much too fast!

Jared and I went to Wal-Mart today after we dropped off Jakie. I asked him if he wanted to walk or get in the cart.  He chose to walk.  I usually always give him the option since he's a pretty good listener.  He had the cutest little older Asian couple oogling over him in the parking lot.  They couldn't get enough of him and didn't want him to go.  It was the cutest thing.  I wanted to bring them home with me :) And even though most of the time Jared acts shy, he loves it.
Then, we got in the store and there was more oogling by random shoppers.  I'm not sure what it is about this boy but everyone seems to be so smitten with him.  Including us :)
We walked down every toy aisle and he pushed as many buttons as he could.  Trying to make everything go off simultaneously.  He got a real kick out of himself when he had four trucks going off at once.

We left the toys to head to the "bideo gameth" (video games) but there was only one console that had a game that you could actually play and it was being hogged up used by a boy that wasn't about to walk away anytime soon.  So, we carried on with our shopping.

Tonight I worked on (homemade) Christmas gifts and Jakie asked if he could help.  Certainly!  Love that he likes to get crafty with me :)

Helping me got his "creative juices" flowing and he ended up ditching my project and started one of his own.  I'm thinking he'll be right back in the same spot tomorrow afternoon when he gets home from school to finish up.

Michael had finals today and he didn't do so well.  We had a chat at the kitchen table tonight.  Don't think he enjoyed it but I think he's starting to get something out of them now.  He's no longer shutting down when Jason and I get "that tone" in our voice.  I think he's had enough time to adjust to life with the Adams Family.  Next semester will be different.  He won't have a choice.  His adjustment period has come to an end.  Time to make it happen!  It's a tough situation to be in.  Switching from the Aunt and Uncle role to the parent role.  It's just as hard for him as it is for us, I know.  But, as hard as it is for us I know it's even harder for Monica.  She did the right thing.  I pray, that deep down in her soul, she knows that.  And most nights, I'm praying for the same exact thing for myself and Jason.

It's 10:28p I need to get myself in bed!

busy days.

I'm not really sure why I opened my big mouth about blogging everyday in December.  Clearly, it's not going to happen.  Between baseball practice, scrimmages, making dinner, homework, & lunch making all in the evening hours, it's been next to impossible to find the time to sit and blog.  By nine o'clock I'm ready for bed.  And nothing else.

So, a recap from the last few days will have to do:

Someone was very upset with me because he was being super-naughty in the Post Office and when we got in the car Mommy told him, "No video games for you today!" He wasn't pleased.  Ten minutes into the car ride home he said, "Shorry Mommy.  I be happy again." Telling me that he'll be "happy" again means he won't be naughty anymore.  And, if you're wondering, I didn't give in.  There were no video games.  Not even after the sweet apology.

SO NOT my favorite place to be.  We waited in the car while Jason went in.  Auto parts stores stink and make my nose burn.  Egh.

Jason, Jared, and I took a trip to Toys R Us last night while Michael and Jakie stayed home.  We bought a few things (gifts) and Jared left with nothing in hand and no fits.  He's usually quite content with "just looking".  I taught that early on :)

Michael and Jakie are officially checked off of my Christmas list.  Jared on the other hand has a lot of catching up to do.  So, all that's left to buy is a few things for Jared and a few gift cards.  Easy peasy!

Jakie is dealing with kids at school telling him that, "Santa isn't real."  My response, "Sure stinks to be them!  They'll only be getting presents from their Mom's and Dad's this year.  What a shame."

TODAY:

Jared and I baked Banana Bread :)

Jared fell asleep on the way to Jakie's practice.  He woke up half way through and decided he wanted me to hold him so he could go back to sleep.  He obviously has no idea how hard it is to hold a forty-four pound three year old while sitting on metal bleachers.  I won't be able to do that much longer with the way he's growing.  That's for sure!

We went to McDonald's for a snack size McFlurry after practice.  That made Jakie happy.  Because if anyone knows Jakie, they know that boy has a thing for dessert like his Mommy.  If he had it his way, he'd have dessert every. single. night. after dinner.  Yep, that boy is all me :)

Michael made it through a full day of school.  I had to pick him up early yesterday from the nurse's office.  But, he managed to make it through the day today.  Thank goodness.

All the boys are watching Radio.  Love that movie.

I am very ready for bed!

Christmas. Part 1

Today, each of the boys got a present to open :) That's always fun!

We had already bought Jakie a bat and batting gloves for Christmas but Jason decided that he needed it before the big day because he has an upcoming tournament that he needed them for.  Ok, Daddy :)  So, we of course couldn't give Jacob a present without giving Michael and Jared one :)

As soon as Jared spotted the presents he was ready to dig in!  Jason asked him what the magic word was.  "Kweeeeeeee-kweeeee-kweeeeeeaaaaaattthhhhhe Dah-eeee???"  Yep, begging hands and all.

Michael was up first.  Thank goodness he's finally starting to feel better.  His antibiotics are finally kicking in and he's looking alive again.  He even started texting again this evening.  Hopefully tomorrow he'll be able to eat something.

Next up was Jared.  This year will be totally different than last year, that's for sure!  He tore right into that box with no problem.

And, at last, Jacob :) The reason for all of this in the first place.  He so very badly wanted a new bat.  He was pleased, to say the least.

Michael got: A Mizuno Hoodie that he's been wanting for quite a while.
Jared got: A Toy Story 3 Foam Dart Gun that I managed to sneak in the shopping cart when he wasn't looking.
Jakie got: A Bat and Batting Gloves.

This post has taken me two hours to write.  Michael is watching Eagle Eye and I kept getting sucked in!

sunday happiness

  • Grandpa Darrell brought breakfast over this morning.  Jack in the Box Breakfast Jacks.  My boys were in heaven.
  • The boys and I baked sugar cookies today.  YUM.
  • Jared is addicted to video games.  He begs to play them.  Usually goes something like this:
Jared: "Mommy I kway bideo gameth?"

Me: "No."

Jared: "Kweeeeeeeathe, kweeeee-kweeee-kweeeeeeeeeathe, kweeeeathe Mommy?"

Me: "No.  Stop begging."

Jared: "Mommy I kweeeeathe kway bideo games?"

Me: "No."

Jared: "Mommy I kway your phone?"

Me: "No."

Then he proceeds to go through the list of video games:
Jared: "Mommy I kway BatBan?  Thar Warth?  Lego?  Ninja Turtleth?"

Me: "No Jared!"

Jared: "Awwwwwwww!!  I juth go wead bideo gameth then!"

Me: "Good idea!"

That boy is something else.
  • Jakie has an owie on his knee.  He scored and got to use the new Superhero band-aids :) Totally worth the owie he said.
  • The boys and I have a shopping date tomorrow.  Michael has money to spend.  And for once, it's not mine :)
  • Jason is the smartest guy I know.  For sure.  He's turned into such a "Mr. Fix-it" the older he's gotten.  He saved us a ton of money yesterday by an insanely easy fix on my car that not even a mechanic would've figured out immediately...or at least he would've pretended not to.  But, prior to the fix he was quite upset and said, "This is why you need a new car!" ...Yea well, I, don't want the payment that comes with that new car.  Ugh.  Don't miss the days of car payments.  So, I'll continue to skate by as long as I can.  Or, as long as he'll let me.
  • I took an hour nap today.  Jared didn't have a nap at all.  He was out by 7.  I'm so thankful for that.  He's been a little handful today!
  • We spent a little time with Pa today after what had seen like weeks since we've seen him.  He's been working, working, working.  Really hoping he's home for Thanksgiving.  Speaking of Thanksgiving, I can't wait for it!  And this time it's not at our house!  That deserves a giant, haleluyer!
  • No school this week!! :)
  • I'm tired tonight.  No pictures for this post.

Just a few

  • Apples are a favorite in the Adams house right now. We each have one every single day. Braeburn is our favorite.  Yum.  Add a slice of Sharp Cheddar Cheese with it and this Mama's in heaven.

  •  Jakie has a loose top tooth...he bites everything on the opposite side of it.  Kinda funny to watch :)

  • Look at that sweet chub :)
  • On the way home from school today Jared looked over at Jakie and said, "Cake, I lubb you tho much." Jakie said, "Oh thank you Jared.  I love you too."  Oh my gooooodness!  That was definitely "one of those" moments.  I love love.
  • Jakie is kind of loco when it comes to homework.  He worries about it non-stop pretty much.  If he's going to finish it in time?  How much is left to do?  Did I read my fluency passage?  Did Mommy sign it?  Yep, he's my son.  He's a worrier for sure.  One trait I was hoping he wouldn't get from me.  So, any chance he gets, he wants to do homework.  Doesn't matter where.  In the car.  In the bank.  At the grocery store sitting in the cart.  Anywhere.

Typical "boy-knees" right there.  Scrapes + dirt.  Blehk.

  • Jakie had tryouts yesterday for a travel ball team.  He made the team :) So proud of him.

  • It's been a good week thus far.  Looking forward to a rainy weekend!  Hope the weatherman isn't tricking me.

sunday goodies

A little Sunday baking with the littles.
Pumpkin Cookies with Cinnamon Maple Cream Cheese Frosting.
Hello yumminess!

A quick hand from Daddy :)

Mr. Jared couldn't wait to plop all of that pumpkin in the mixing bowl so he could get busy on scraping the can clean!

Someone spilled the flour mixture all over himself and got upset because I yelled, "Jared!" Shame on me.  I wasn't really mad at all.  But, try telling a three-year-old that.  We hugged it out and carried on :)

His favorite part!  Jacob is grossed out by the smell of pumpkin and refuses to eat anything with raw pumpkin in it.  Which means, Jared scored!

After it's baked it's a totally different story though :)

We finished the night off with good friends in full costume.  Who said Halloween had to be over?  Not us!
Sunday movie + dinner at the Arrocena's ♥
{Marisa was hiding}

It was a fantastic Sunday!

Helllooooo Saturday!

  • We got to sleep in today!  Good thing since Jared woke me up three times last night.  I woke up this morning and he was on the floor next to my bed ♥ Guess he showed me who was boss.
  • We took a trip to Petco to buy a crate for Miss Roxy.  I've had it with her accidents in the house.  So, it was either crate train her or put her outside!  And, we didn't get this sweet girl just to throw her outside and forget about her.  We're I'm determined to "fix her".
  • The boys of course loved this trip.  Petco is like a little mini field trip to kids.  I guess for adults too...Jason came to me while I was looking at doggie clothes and said, "I'm in love with the little dog over there." I said, "Don't worry Babe, I can fix that.  NO WAY!" That man has such a HUGE heart.  He's never been able to say "no" to a dog.

turtles

snakes and toads

the boys laid on just about every bed that was on the lowest shelf "trying them out".  boys.

  • Chipotle for lunch. Shocker, right? It's pretty much the only place we go when we eat out.

being their usual silly selves.  they pretended they were swimming, karate guys, surfers, and even more that I probably didn't hear about.  love it when their imaginations run wild.

  • Roxy is so happy with her crate.  As soon as we got home and took it out of the box she went right in at her first chance.  Excellent.  I was so worried that this was going to be a long process of getting her in and it was quite the opposite!  Thank goodness :)

every morning.

Every morning before Jakie jumps out of the truck to head to the playground, he gives me a kiss.
Every morning Jakie tries to get away without giving Jared a kiss.
Every morning Jared yells, "Cakie!  Whaaa bout me?!  Gimme ah kith too!  An a hug, I wan hug!"
Every morning we laugh :)
Every morning Jakie waves goodbye and double checks to make sure the door is shut all the way.
Every morning we drive away and Jared, in his sweet, calm, loving voice says, "I lubb him so much Mommy."
Every morning I reply, "Me too bebe.  I lubb him so much.  Just like you."

I'll be sad when these days are over.  The day Jakie's too big to kiss me because his friends might see.  The day he refuses to kiss or hug his baby brother because he gets on his nerves.  The day he calls me MOM because he's "way too big" to call me Mommy.  My heart aches just thinking about it!  So for now, I'll soak it up.  I will gladly have the same thing happen over and over again every morning that we drop off Jakie at school.  Because before I know it...these days will be over.  Before I'm ready for it.   Eventually, every morning he'll get out of the car and not look back.
